Vaccines: The REAL Story - Measles Outbreak

Largest Measles Outbreak in the U.S. Since 1996 Caused by Those not Vaccinated.

On May 15, 2005, an unvaccinated, 17-year-old girl returned to the U.S. after a missions trip to Romania. What she did now know was that she was carrying the measles virus back home, too. She attended a large gathering of fellow church members the day after she got home, and she spread the disease, mostly to the unvaccinated people in attendance. There were a total of 500 people at the gathering, and 34 people ended up coming down with the measles.

Of those 34 people, only 2 had been vaccinated. Thus, the vast majority (88%) of those who got the disease were unvaccinated. This is, of course, consistent with many other studies, which show that unvaccinated people are significantly more likely to get a disease as compared to those who have been vaccinated against it.

Of the 34 people who were infected, 20 (71%) were homeschooled, indicating that the lies of the anti-vaccination movement have taken hold in the homeschooling community. In addition, 3 of the infected people were hospitalized, one of whom required 6 days of ventilator support. Thankfully, there were no deaths.

This story demonstrates two very important points. First, unvaccinated children are not safe from a disease just because it is not prevalent in the U.S. This case of the measles was brought to the U.S. from Romania. Second, it shows how the unvaccinated community harms everyone. Had the young lady who brought the virus home from Romania been vaccinated before she left, none of this would have happened!
